Kanoni

The Kanoni site lies to the south of Palaeopolis. It is said that it took its name from the establishment of two French cannon there in 1798. One cannon from that battery still survives. Just below Kanoni there is the Monastery of Vlachernae, dating to the 1600s. Small boats sail from the quay to the islet of Pontikonissi with its picturesque Chapel of the Pantocrator.
