Filarmoniki Etaireia Kerkyras “Palaia”
The Corfu Philharmonic Society (also known as the "Old Philharmonic") was founded on 12th of September 1840 and is the oldest music educational organisation in Greece. The original purpose of its founders was to create a complete music academy, similar to those of neighbouring Italy. It provided a sustainable solution to a chronic problem, the absence of a complete music school, which would offer the people of Corfu music education, regardless of social class, age, gender and general education.
