About 40 km northwest of the city and at an altitude of 400 m, the isolated and silent, once rich and crowded, Palia
Perithia today has only 2 permanent residents! At the beginning of the 13th century, the pirates’ threat forced the
locals to choose a safe place. In the 1970s, other needs led the village gradually depopulated. At the entrance
the pink bell tower of the church of Agios Iakovos will welcome you, while the walk through the grassy streets
with the stone houses that still bear coats of arms is in itself a journey in the past.
Tip: The village livens up every weekend, with Corfiots and visitors who come here for the 5 traditional
taverns!
