Easter Sunday
09:00-11:00 Most churches on the island hold the Resurrection Mass in the morning, on an old tradition based on the passage of the New Testament: “And very early in the morning, the first day of the weeke they came unto the sepulchre, at the rising of the sunne” (John, 20:1). A procession of the icon of the Lord’s Resurrection also takes place in accordance with the Byzantine ritual that is still extant in some Aegean islands and Slavic Orthodox countries.
